Carlos is a community specialist at Kern High School District in Bakersfield, California. In 2021 the original strain of COVID-19 put him in the hospital for three months, and the disability coverage he’d added the year before kept his paycheck protected while he recovered.
In 2026 I took the film through post-production: the edit, color correction and grading, audio mastering, and original motion design and animation. The graphics are built around Carlos’s own words, typed out on the page and signed on the dotted line, alongside archival CDC briefings and the plan brochure, so the story reads like a record of that year.
